2010 a Year in review

So we are right at the last few days of 2010 and I have to say I am SO FREAKING GLAD THIS YEAR IS OVER!!! Now I know.. i know; it could have been much worse, but it feels like the challenges I have faced this year are enough to make up a few lifetimes! And just recently I have decided to STOP comparing my life over the past several years and just focus more on the present. Because I honestly have been driving myself crazy... and who wants that? Not me!! That's for sure.

Jobs
I started this year with a job and I'm ending this year with a job... so that's good right?!? Again, something I am trying to do or NOT do is define myself by having a job or not. It is just soooo very stressful to not have a job and still have to maintain a living. My standard of living has fallen significantly. I have been on a 'needs only' basis for longer than I care to admit. So it has been really easy for me to talk myself out of any extras because I truly could not afford it. But I think it has made me a better person... at least I hope.

I maintained my grind with all my 50eleven jobs. Still a little discontent that I haven't found a little bar to be bartender at; but that just means I gotta get my stuff together and open my own little spot. One of my temp gigs, I sorted the little tags that they put on the hanger for suit sizes. I really almost had a breakdown as I laughed about how the hell I was gonna put that on my resume! It was funny, sad, and very humbling.

This year I have worked with some GREAT people and some horrible people and I always wonder how the horrible ones got to be where they are. Yet another thing that could drive a chick crazy. But Karma, as I always say, is a bitch, so I believe I am making up for something(s) I have done but I know my reward will be great at some point.

Travel
I am a chick who likes to travel several times a year so the fact that Pittsburgh, my home town, was a major destination was sadder than sad!! LOL Not that I do not enjoy being with my family and specifically my mother, I needed a beach! And I am going to make it to at least one beach next year so that is something to look forward to. I did make it to Atlanta this spring, and I had a blast that weekend as I helped celebrate my cousin soror's 25 distinguished years in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I need to get my butt active again so that there will be a celebration for me in about 10 years... oh wait... 9 years!! I been a soror for 16 years!! WOW!!!

So the destination next year is Dominican Republic. I have a big cheesy grin on my face as I type about all the beautiful men that are going to be there. Me gusta un latino!! See I gotta get my Spanish together!! I would also like to make it to Miami and Chicago and New Orleans... but the budget may only include 1 good trip, and that is really ok with me. As long as a beach is involved, OH and some fruity libations, it's good!!

I just tortured myself by watching the Best Beaches in Mexico and now Jamaica undercover is on. It is nice to look at a beach even if it's just on the TV

Family
All of my nieces and nephews are getting SO BIG!! I even kept my littlest nephew at 2 even though he is 3 because I just couldn't keep up with all the... well I don't know what my excuse is for that one. My oldest nephew is 22 and that make me gasp when I say it out loud. I mean he is legal and EVERYTHING. I just can't take it all.

We had our family reunion this year and it was great to see everyone and meet family members I had never met before. I enjoyed the weekend but I was one of the hostesses so it was 'working' vacation. 2 people who came didn't make it through the end of the year. You just never know when sometimes the last time you see someone is really going to be the last time!

Music
I didn't buy to much stuff this year, but I did just get Fantasia and Kem. Both cd's are pretty darn good. It just floors me when some artist 'make it' and others don't. I still don't get the whole Justin Bieber thing, or Lady Gaga which were more mainstream; as for the R&B folks... i don't get the Keri Hilson, Melanie Fiona and Ciara thing. They all are just so regular to me, like nothing all that special.
But then again I love my independent artists so i guess I like the more different people. Like who?!?! Well I'm glad you asked!! I just discovered or rediscovered N'Dambi. She is really slept on, like many artist, but that song 'Can't Hardly Wait' I just LOVE IT!! There of course is a potty mouth version that I can never seem to find... but here's the cd sampler. Now what's crazy is this is kinda how I was with Eric Robeson, although with him I saw him perform several times and then I became like a mega fan. I have yet to see her perform, but it's like I've know she was around but just kinda 'discovered' her again. What I do know is she was one of the background singers for Erykah Badu.

Nothing else happened that seemed to big on the music scene for me.

Men
**LOUD OBNOXIOUS SIGH** Ok so not one of my stellar years for relationships. I mean all I need is one good one right? One I should have just kept that nonsense right in the past, the other I think I thought I wanted to be with him... but well what had happened is we just didn't click (and that is putting it mildly and very PC).

AND... moving on!!

The System - aka trying to get over...
This was not my goal this year, but I tell you when you make a call where they either put you on hold or disconnect you altogether or give you a bad number to get to a person who never calls you back to get some basic services, yeah you feel like working the system for all it's worth. And then after a few days of cooling off and rethinking just what the hell you are doing... you try again and get someone who actually can and will help and so your issues get resolved. It's a labyrinth. What's bad is with every THING (housing assistance, taking class to make myself marketable, and most recently my janky health insurance) it can drive a chick to drink... and since I already drink I DRANK MORE!!! And each of the various services that are set in place to help people, you have to figure out what hoop to jump through and then figure where they want you to jump... it's all so very exhausting. For the house you have to tell your whole life story only for them to want more documentation only for them to lose it so you have to start the process all over. With the class, because I had a job (even though grossly underemployed) I was told I was 'employable' so the state couldn't authorize me to use money set aside for people who are EXACTLY in my situation. AND lastly the insurance... they dropped me then the labwork got submitted but now they picked my back up and to be honest I have no good idea what I'm supposed to pay; so I'ma give it a few more weeks before I call and see.

The Good and The Bad
For what it's worth as low as I have felt and been, I still think I had more ups than downs. I mean I still have my house, my health, and my sanity AND that's really saying something. My goal for the past several years has been to be a better me... and I still think that's a lofty goal, but I might need to be a little more specific. I think I'm going to start working on my bucket list. One of those goals is to run a marathon, and since i like neither running NOR sweating this one is going to be a challenge. Another one is to meet Regis Philbin... I don't know why I just want to. So I might have to go hang out in random spots in NYC.

That's it... my year in quick review format for all to see... err I mean my 5 readers to see!!

no mas!!

I am sitting here trying to get myself into the Christmas spirit so I turned my Pandora to the 'Holiday' station. I have no good idea who Olivia Olson is, but she just did the Mariah Carey song 'All I want for Christmas is you'. And then last night as I was driving home, I think it was Chris Brown's version of 'This Christmas'. Now we ALL know Donny Hathaway is the ONLY and by only I mean ONLIEST one who can do that song. Both of his versions were sufficient and then some. I only even ½ way like Luther's version and Luther can redo (or rather could) anyone's song and make it his own. Why do these artists think they can touch the originals. It's almost like HOW FREAKING DARE YOU!?! Write an original song and make that your own! OR like my nephew's music teacher does, she come up with these songs aint NOBODY ever heard before, but they musta not just caught on back in the day when they came out.

The next song on my jolly quest to insert some commercialized Christmas into my life is 'Last Christmas' done originally by Wham or was it just George Michael… now Jimmy Eat World is doing some farfanagled version… UMM I am getting slightly irritated which is defeating the purpose of trying to get in a good mood. I mean you know not that I am in a particularly bad mood, I'm really not. But hey It's Christmas not X-mas which gets more on my nerves than anything. We must not forget Christ in Christmas…

I am digging Michael Buble's version of 'Let it Snow'

Okay I had to turn off the Pandora… it was getting to be too much of what I didn't want to hear

random 12.15

I have 1 whole follower!!! yeah me!! Thanks Brina for always being there for me! I LOVE YOU GURL!! I have missed a whole YEAR cause my god son is 3 not 2!! LAWD I'm getting old!

ok onto general randomness and merriment... OH I KNOW

The Dominicans
My new favorite thing are those Dominican women who can roll the hell outta ya hair then dry the hell outta your hair and you leave outta their spot like DAMN I LOOK PRETTY GOOD!!! (had to pause real quick to go make a pom/lime martini... I'm feeling a little festive :) It has always been such a wonderment to me why it always takes sooooooooo long in a black hair shop. You make the appt, you get there on time and yet many times you just WAIT... and wait and wait. And who really has time for that?? I remember as a kid being dropped off by my dad in the morning and then picked up by my mom in the afternoon. And I had alot of hair so it was always a blessing when I got to go because no matter how still I sat my mom was going to find an ear or a neck to burn when she hot combed it. LOL the good old days? ANYWAYS you just show up at the shop. The woman who probably speaks the least amount of English gets you set up either in the shampoo bowl or at the chair if you are getting a chemical. Then the woman who has the license starts working on you in about 5 minutes! I mean that has been the max time I had to wait. I am going to this one particular shop on the recommendation of my cousin who has a baby and demanding work schedule and no extra time to just be waiting in a damn salon. PLUS her hair always looks good. I would take the thriving nature of a NON American to get this thing going. I just think we are so complacent as Americans. We are so stuck in mediocrity sometimes. But you know, not all of us.

Work
The ongoing joke started and perpetuated by my, is that I have 50eleven jobs, which just means I have a lot of them. And now thanks to Little Baby Jesus, I can add yet one more company to my exhaustively long list of places that I have worked. I did a kind of filler resume to include everywhere I have worked in the past 10 years, and it is slightly embarrassing. I mean to an extent that it really is a whole lot of places which can be good AND bad. So my current dilemma is that I just don't know how to take the folks I work with now. They are really a great bunch of folks, but I just feel like I am going to say the wrong thing or offend the wrong person. It has taken me several years and a few lost jobs to learn to just not blurt out everything that comes to my random mind. And this can be a task. So now mostly i just sit there with a goofy grin so as not to say anything crazy. Cause you know I have a comment about EVERYTHING but I have to remind myself that either 1.) THEY AINT TALKING TO YOU or 2.) THEY ARE REALLY NOT ASKING FOR YOUR OPINION!! So this chick has to pump her brakes more often than not.

I would really like to go into some juicy detail about some of the extremes I have had while working, but i guess that would be kinda crossing a line. BUT here's a few... being told I had to take my acrylic nails off because the were too wild (I was the only black chick in the office... come to think of it only black PERSON including the maintenance dudes... do you smell discrimination?); being written up for non-verbal communications (I still scratch my head about that one... which I guess is non verbal LOL); having a weekly meeting with my supervisor who then said we didn't communicate enough (too much weirdness in that office); only being able to use blue ink pens because EVERYONE knows it business blue not business black :/ ooookay!!!

Yeah...

Housewives
nothing really to report other than I guess now Cynthia is saying the friendship contract was a joke, but both she and Peter went out of their way to appease Ne Ne and that heifer still acted a fool!! Good girlfriends are hard to come by so I get where Cynthia was coming from. OOOOHHH and Sheree... acting?!?! Come on really? And how you just go out and buy an Astin Martin?? If you really got it like that, why are you being wasteful?? Cause she mentions err chance she gets that she doesn't get child support. so I just wonder where all this money is coming from, and clue a chick in so I too can be all willy nilly with my funds too!!

The Singoff
I am in freaking LOVE with this show!! It is featuring all acapella groups and now we are in the voting phase. I am voting for Committed, they are church boys who now are singing 'worldy' music. It's funny because they seem sooooo virginal, but I wonder a few things, cause they aren't the most masculine men, BUT they are all cutie pies (ESPECIALLY the one with the gap (LAWD gap tooth men LOVE IT!!) and the bass dude who kinda looks like a dark skinded Hill Harper), and hopefully just pure at heart, but we all know church boys/men can be worse than the ones you find at the club, but I do wonder if they have girlfriends. Their 1st song was a song by Maroon 5, which sent shiver down my spine...leave it to youtube to hae what I need. HERE look!! As Shawn Stockman (Boyz to Men)... or the pussycat doll chick said, he had a musical orgasm!! And I guess maybe I did too!!!

So yes there are other groups who I also adored. The Whiffenpoofs were the team from Yale, whose, song the 1st show was just sickness!!

Groove for Thought were the team of music teachers and 1 of their daughters, who were just so jazzy. The competition was really stiff cause I was hoping they would be in the top, but they had a few missed notes.

On the Rocks... if I was a dude, I would totally want to hang out with them. They seem like a great bunch of dudes to hang out with. The started with a Lady Gaga song and got kicked off with Kyrie which I thought was really good. Actually their Swan Song was really good too... which I can't seem to find so here's the Elton medley... ENJOY!!

Then you got Street Corner Symphony who are in the top 4. the lead singer dude had a record deal, but he just got dicked around, by the record company. So probably when a young teeny booper was being promoted his talent got lost in the sauce. So this was my favorite, Everybody Wants to Rule the World. It's Tears for Fears!! I realized how big an 80's geek I truly am; i passed this little test with flying colors:

You might be a child of the 80's if...

You have seen at least 10 episodes of Fraggle Rock. (I've seen them ALL and I own several VHS copies)
You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer."
You'll always hold a special place in your heart for "Back to the Future." (1.21 jigga watts!!! have the 3 DVD set)
You know where to go if you "wanna go where everybody knows your name." (I might as well be cliff clavin)
You thought Molly Ringwald was REALLY cool. (Was there an 80's movie she WASN'T in?)(cause red hair was cool!!)
You know what "psych" means (always spelled it sike though LOL)

OH wait... where was I. The other top groups are Jerry Lawson and Talk of the Town and the Back Beats. Not really feeling the Back Beats although they ae the only top group with women in it. Talk of the town is good in an old timey barbershop quartet kinda way.

I will be downloading ALL the songs I like!!

I did not realize the hyper links took you completely out of the blog into the link... hmm how the heck do I fix that?? Or is that just a Google Chrome thing? Well so for now... watch the link the hit the back button to continue getting your dose of randomness! I just looked at a previous post with a Monica video in it. She had a lot of lightskinded men in her video... and then the dude from Ordinary People (John Legend video... whose real name is John Stephens LOL)is in that video. And where exactly do you go to find out the people in commercials and videos? The At&T Taco Party commercial makes me laugh just thinking about it! Eric does NOT seem creepy to me.. in fact I would like to know Eric and his taco eating self LOL.

funny random shit...
Meltdown

If you don't go to any other link... go to this last one!!!

thanksgiving and other randomness

thanksgiving
I'm always so grateful to have a place to go and a family to go to for all major (and minor) holidays. And it's great to add new people to the mix... in-laws, new babies, special friends (as my mother like to say). But THANK YOU LITTLE BABY JESUS when it's over!!! We managed to go through 2 boxes of wine and 2 regular sized bottles of zinfandel. And it wasn't bad it really wasn't but I just am reminded of why moving home not Pittsburgh necessarily, but specifically my mother's house. I love her so much but I just don't think we could ever live together for very long and on purpose.

Oprah
I am tryna catch up on my Oprah's that have been dvr'd over the past week or so. right now playing in the background is the one with Garth Brooks. I'm not a big country fan, let alone a Garth fan, but who doesn't know/love I got friends in LOW places?!?! It is a classic. And to be honest all my friends in HIGH places can't seem to help me so sometimes having those friends in LOW places is your best bet. The show before was a woman who married a convicted felon in prison. I really couldn't watch much of that because it was just tooo stupid. Now I am all for love in all sorts of circumstances, and having a connection with someone that you really just can't explain, but to marry someone with no chance of parole who killed people execution style is just a bit much for this chick to handle. And then she has a teenage son and I was like COME ON?!?! Then theres the Favorite things show **LOUD SIGH** I really just couldn't watch the first one. Oprah's rationale for not doing it last year just went completely out the window this year in an effort to make every show so freaking big for her final season. And I know she doesn't buy all this stuff, these companies give it to her and I'm sure they makes tons of sales after the fact so it all evens out, but sometimes I wonder where is MY fairy godmother?!?? Who's gonna grant my little measly wish. I just get so frustrated sometimes because I'm not really asking for much and yet I am in a pickle!! Some of it self imposed MOST of it because of this horrible economy where I have to interview for a lowly temp assignment that may pay 10 bucks only to smile and look great and tell these people my whole life story which may be too much because they think I'm not a fit and what the hell does that mean anyway?!?

housewives
now I know new parents are clueless and not having a child of my own I can only imagine what foolishness that I will impart on my own child, but Phaedra takes the freaking cake. She is so concerned with the little crocheted outfit that she puts the modesty cover over her backwards. she is a little to materialistic for me. I feel so bad for Ne Ne. Only she and Greg know what the real deal is, but it seems to me that reality shows do a disservice to the institution of marriage. Keep yo shit to yourself. I think they maybe would have made it had it not been for the show... maybe. I know there are various levels of payment in the music industry, but couldn't Kandi have sued Kim? And I know she is trying to be cordial and help out a friend, but business is business. Mr or Dr Tiy-E LMBAO he looked like a scam artist the first time they showed his thinning s-curl. But Sheree was tryna give a brotha a chance. OH WELL.

I have tried to watch Beverly Hills, they are just sooooooo over the top with the spending on the kids; $60k for a kids birthday party?!?! REALLY... you coulda paid me 10k and they actually would have had a good time!! And then the plastic surgery/botox thing is so gross looking. First off, if I can tell you had some work done, then it's prolly not a good job. Second, who are you fooling with those duck lips?? Who woulda thunk having full lips would be something people paid for? I myself have a pretty full set of lips AND dark skin which is another thing people pay for. I guess I take it for granted. OH and that whole Jersey thing (Jerseylicious and Jersey Shore) have taken the tanning thing to a WHOLE NUTHA LEVEL!! I am tempted to drive up there to see if the regular folks are really like that. It's almost like they are ok with creating a stereotype specifically for Italian Americans. Most of them are Italian (which is why they probably tan pretty good) some are not, but they still wear way to much make-up and manscape a tad bit too much... I'm jus sayin!!

general random
Every single leaf has fallen off my tree and of course it rained today so even if I had it in my head to rake I can't (or won't) now. Someone said that was why we had so many stink bugs this year because they nested under all the leaves people didn't rake. I don't really buy that, but it is a theory.

I cooked eggs this morning and now my house smells like EGGS!! I attempted to find a odor neutralizing candle at the SUPER Wal-Mart I even asked the cute little dread loc'd guy who was stocking the shelves. I remember they sold them at Bed Bath and Beyond... I guess I need to go there with one of my coupons. Just slightly pissed that the SUPER Wal-Mart did not have all of my needs!! Actually I could hit there and then swing past Caribou for a latte... hmmm if it didn't get dark so early I would do just that right now. Maybe tomorrow.

I have the TV on the 'Throwback Jamz' station... is it witha Z?? Ok I got all kinds of distracted cause Perculator is on LOL!!! That was the jam back in the day... hence it being on the throwback station LOL. maybe I should just leave this station and shake my booty for the rest of the day :)

moscow mule!!!

WHY?!?! because Oprah said so, and you know I listen to what Oprah sez... Ms WinAfrey!! So i'm sitting here thinking about my day... all in all not a bad freaking day. I did a tour of Baltimore today because of all the construction all over freaking town and I underestimated the traffic so even though I thought I gave myself an extra 15 minutes that was eaten all up in traffic. So I guess it was good that I allowed for that buffer. So I interviewed for a bartending position and I got excited when the dude opened the bar up and I saw the Frangelico. NO ONE ever had Frangelico!! I'm doing good if I got some Malibu or Amaretto... but Frangelico!! I actually went to bartending school... umm ok a 2 week certificate program.. but I really enjoyed it. I already knew some stuff and had some serving experience so for me this just enhanced what I knew. What I didn't know is that going to 'school' in the industry is kinda frowned upon. So basically they (whoever the hell they are) would rather throw you to the wolves instead of you having some basic knowledge. In fact some more seasoned bartenders I have worked with are shocked that I went to 'school' because I'm good and fast... I mean you know not to toot my own horn, but sometimes I'm the onliest one that will so TOOT TOOT!!!

I just watched Twilight and I kinda get the hype and I kinda don't. I mean talk about freaking teenage angst!! High school was a great time for me. But then again I guess I didn't have a Vampire trying to suck or not suck my blood because he was soooooo in love with me. And Robert Pattinson is alright, but that Taylor Lautner is a CUTIE PIE!! If I was 17 he could GET IT for real!! And then the onliest black dude Laurent (Edi something(he's from Kenya))... OH a chick appreciated the scene where he is walking out of the woods with the bad ass vampires with no shirt!! Yep I had to rewind that part a few times **big cheesy grin**. I mean I guess everyone has their teenage movies. For me, since I am an 80's baby all the John Hughes movies (Pretty In Pink, 16 candles, Breakfast club... I did not know he did Ferris Bueller!!! i *heart* IMDB for this new found information; cause who didn't like Ferris?!?!) and there was plenty angst, but we laughed I think a lot more than the kids today. Pretty in Pink in fact was on the other night... got the song from the end stuck in my head. I totally thought it was Thompson Twins... NOT It's OMD... 'If you leave' Yeah... I'm tripping a little. And there really weren't alot of 'black' movies so we just kinda had to insert ourselves into the white ones. Which is funny cause I just read 32 Candles by Ernessa Carter. Oh the girl gets the boy.. but damn it takes a long time. Basically the main character was pretty messed up for the Molly Ringwald movies of the 80's thinking the her life should mirror that of the movies, but does it ever?!?

We all know by now I am a Housewife of ATL fool. And I am catching myself up on season 2 on NBC. When it originally aired I had Dish Network ( I soooo hate them don't ever ever EVER go to them if you can help it) and I downgraded my packed which did not include Bravo. OH it had 20 ESPN stations that I could choose from but no freaking Bravo, so I missed the bulk of the season. So I am for the 1st time seeing the whole Sheree scence with that idiot party planner. WHO ACTS LIKE THAT?!?! I mean even if you don't agree with someone if they are paying you money to provide them a service indulge them!! That Anthony dude was a pure mess. You just can not lose you're cool like that, and really unless they didn't show what really happened, Sheree was asking regular questions, and had regular concerns so how he gon call her mama a bitch?!? 'Who gonna check me boo?!?' STILL the most hilarious thing (a close second followed by 'I like to eat chicken' by Kim's daughter). And he said to google him but clearly his team is not doing a good job of keeping the negative stuff off the Internet. There is no way in heck, hell OR hades I would hire him. There is not 1 positive thing. ANYWAYS!! So I goggle Kandi because surely 'No Scrubs' (even though she mentions it more often than I think the law should allow) was not her only song she ever wrote. She wrote this one by N'Sync - It Makes me ill. I think all writers have a sound... and if you listen real close you'll hear 'I don't want no scrubs'.... N'Sync used to be HOOOOOOOTTTT!! I still like Joey Fatone :) But so ok... she wrote more than one song and I am glad of that!! A chick gotta eat!!

The Video Vixen - ok so the other night (notice how err thang is always the other day the other night LOL) I was flipping through my premium channels that I SOOO need to cancel and happened upon a special narrated by Wendy Williams talking about that Karrin Steffins chick. I must say I had no desire to read that 1st book nor the 2nd or 3rd installment. And I know she named names. I also know we all do things we think we have to in order to survive and in her case provide for her child. But my theory is she played the game all wrong. I'm sure there are plenty of video chicks who do things that the either are proud or at the time and then some time goes by maybe not so much. And I'm positive you don't have to suck anything to make a success of yourself. BUT if that's how you gonna play your game then I mean you know do you!! I watched the Life after thing on TV One and I was scratching my head after and then this thing Kiss and Tail (great title right?!?!) and if everybody is saying the same thing... that this chick is crazy... then it just might be true!! I mean even the porn people were like SHE IS CRAZY!!. Even Bobby Brown, well at least what Darius McCrary (you know Eddie Winslow from the Urkel show) said leave that chick alone!! Ya might wanna leave that chick alone. On the few occasions I have seen her on TV she seems a little detached from reality. I just think she could have done it with way more class than she did. And what about her child.. he will suffer!!

Rocky Horror Glee Show - Can I just say that my girl Mercedes tore up Sweet Transvestite. Can you believe she was an American Idol reject?!!? Well yes... they reject alot of great talent so yes I actually CAN believe it. Ok so you know I had to youtube the original with Tim Curry I just love Glee!! I *heart* GLEE!!!

my moscow mule is wearing off...

i am pack rat...

for some reason today my alarm was extra loud!! which prompted me to jump out of my bed and start cleaning. STILL not sure why but I did. and even though I claim my house is a wreck, I am way more organized than I give myself credit for. HOWEVER, there are always a few lingering things on the floor that I just don't know what to do with. Can't throw it away, doesn't really have a place in the house, but it can just hang out on the floor indefinitely. This morning (well ok it's been there for a hella long time) was a pink notebook, I think it was Spanish from 1989, my 50 state quarters in a ziploc bag (still need a few more states; after 2008 I got a little lazy with the collection) a typed paper from college and my journal entries from 1990. 20 years ago WOW!!

so these entries were for my English class. Mrs. Parschall... and where the heck is she now?? Probably retired. I could do a quick face book look up... but I forget what her first name was (maybe I didn't know it?) was it Linda?? nope Cheryll... dag this technology is a bit unnerving to be finding shit so fast. My general rule is to not friend old teachers though... Even as a grown up (yep at 36 3/4 I am a grown up) I still can't separate the teacher student thing. And my mom was a teacher; I met one of her old student's who was tripping about meeting a person he had only heard my mom talk about (non stop I suspect), it's a really close 6 degrees because he is the cousin of a cousin who lives right near me... but I digress

I was reading these entries it was about 12 of them and I was a pretty funny chick even at 16. One of them was about being older and what's funny 25 was MY AGE I wanted to be it was the 'perfect age'. And that feels forever ago. And then one was about how I was bored and I was dreading going to me grandmother's house to hear the same old stories she always told. What I wouldn't give right now to hear about how they had to lance Ant Lizzy right on the forehead because of all the pus because she fell or something... dag I can't remember the story. The things I took for granted. And then one was about how bad my summer of 1990 was. I really didn't remember that. But what had happened is I was in an architecture program at Carnegie Mellon. I was the ONLY black person. There was one other chick who was bi-racial, but you only knew if she told you, cause she looked white, and she was from Flint MI. I remember stuff like that. There was an Indian guy who I thought was black... but he wasn't. His name was Hishesh or Hitesh. I can't remember where he was from. I never really got the architecture stuff. It was very mathematical and I was clueless of what they wanted me to do most of the time. We did art in the morning and design in the afternoon... or vice versa. I took to the art, because I can draw and sketch and paint. OH this was the first time I had a live NUDE model and as a teen it was just embarrassing. I just getting used to my own body and then they had us looking at these nude people?!?! They started with a woman which was hard enough then they brought in a MAN. I had to look at and sketch a completely naked man. mostly those were just stick figures.

I do try to throw things away. When I watch Clean House or Hoarders i get into a massive throw away mode. But this stuff is priceless and I am glad I didn't.

i believe the children are our future...
yesterday for some crazy reason I watched the Willow Smith video I Whip my Hair... which was followed by the Justin Bieber song that featured Jaden Smith followed then by Jerk. LOUD SIGH... yeah I musta fell and bumped my head. And I'm not hating but it must be REAL nice to be a Smith kid and get a record deal and/or a feature spot with an up and coming artist. As for the Jerk, I just didn't know where that dance came from. The song is more than annoying but the dance is cute I mean I can't do it, probably it has something to do with me not being under 15.

Them Housewives
this week it took me forever to watch the DVR of the most recent show. And they had the regular amount of hilarity. But the FUNNIEST SHIT EVER was Kim's little girl when asked what she like to do my girl said "I like to eat chicken!!!" SCREAMING right now thinking about it. Let me set it up... Kim was trying to redo her daughter's bedroom and they went to this furniture store and the sales lady was trying to get a feel for what she might like in her room. Little girl was liking the baseball chair and the football chair and Kim was like no that's not happening. so then the saleslady is trying to help the child out by asking her what she likes to do and home girl said I LIKE TO EAT CHICKEN!!! LAWD I am searching the Bravo website now and I can not find it. THEN little girl said I want a chicken wing on my wall. I was sooo through It was one of those little extra... WHEW I found it!!!

House Husband/Fiancee (kinda sorta) Peter... let me just say that dark chocolate skin and that white beard make me feel all warm and fuzzy!! He is a sexy older man. And then we go to Apollo and he too gets the warm and fuzzy's started :)MMMMMMmmmmmmmmm

Sheree is definitely more likable this season. And Dr. Tiy-E making her lick something off his finger SOOOOO not cool. He's a cutie (kinda balding and is that an S-curl??) but come on.

The whole pickle picture thang... ummm WEIRD is alls I got to say. Phaedra is weird to me in general. And Ne Ne broke it down even a ghetto girl who may not even know who her baby daddy is knows how far along she is and when she is due. WHY is Phaedra actin like she don't know what's going on in her own body!?!?

err thang else...
I broke SOOOOO many freaking dishes and glasses at 1 of my 50eleven jobs today. I don't even know what was going on but one wine glass a champagne glass a plate a saucer... sooo embarrassing

I am dealing with soooooo (ok yeah I know overboard on the so's a lil dramatic) many personality types with all the managers I have on all my 50eleven jobs. Today the dude had to be military and I would venture to say Marine Corp... Yesterday the dude could barely speak English and I can get my Spanglish on just as much as the next person but you gotta speak mas lento por favor!! (that means slower please!!) Senora Rodriguez would probably think I should know more than I do but I do understand more than I can actually speak it. Random thought DAMN all of my Spanish teachers from middle school and high school have died... let me google Mr Huber. He was in his early 20's when I was in high school so he probably is still alive. but Senora Rodriguez, Mr. Fabus, Dr. Kasacavich (I know I just jacked up spelling her name... even when I skipped class I could convince her that I was in class the next day and she would mark me down as present ALSO, on our trip to Mexico she was a bartering QUEEN!! she would be like NO that is to much and walk away and the little vendors would be following her trying to sell her stuff it was amazing; if they said 20 pesos to me and my mom we would be like OK... but she would get them down to 5.... ahhh good times!!) and what was that other ones name... actually there were 2. One was from Cuba and she always had a horrible red/tan thing going on even in Pittsburgh. The other one looked like Frida Kahlo with the whole unibrow thing. I totally lost my train of thought... IMAGINE THAT!!
